Original oil on Box Canvas 12” x 9” x 0.5” (30 x 23cm)
Kiss Me was started on 7th April 2012 with an outline drawing on 300 gsm paper followed by quick acrylic wash painting.
I do not particularly enjoy painting with acrylics much prefer the slow pace and texture of moving the oils around the canvas until the desired shade is achieved, however acrylic allows me to consider if the format will work.
Obviously on this occasion i felt it would work in oils and therefore began painting on box canvas at 8pm. When starting a new painting I like to get to a stage where I feel happy the whole picture is taken on board and I can return to bring the painting to life, with “Kiss Me” I knew I wanted to have the lips completed before finishing work, which I did eventually at 4.30am. The finer blending was achieved by using a ladies soft make up brush. Now I know why it takes Ladies so long to get ready !
